Upgraded a phone through Target and was offered the "Radio Shack" insurance for the phone. We opted to pay the insurance in full for 104.00 plus the cost of the phone.

Three months later a spill occurred to the phone and we "tried" to call the insurance company. We were told the insurance didn't cover spills on the first call. Even though the brochure that was in my hand stated on bold letters otherwise! The second call was placed on hold for over 20 minutes then hung up on. The third call was told they could do nothing for me!

Went back to Target 120 mile round trip with gas at 3.00 a gal. Target called "Radio Shack" insurance and was given the run around and told they had to fax all of the paper work to them. So, the guy at Target sent them a fax and was told it would be an additional "2" days before they would receive the paper work!

We are out a phone now going on a week!

Radio Shack phones our alternate phone and leaves a message to call. When the call is returned they once again tell me there is nothing they can do for me!

Another call to Target, requesting money back for the phone and insurance. Target calls Radio Shack several times. Radio Shack finally agrees to honor the insurance and guess what their system goes down. Coincidence? As to date going on two weeks still NO RESOLUTION and NO PHONE!!!

Hassle Free Insurance...YEAH RIGHT!!!! NOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!

Monetary Loss: $300.

Location: Denver, Colorado

I also got my phone from target. I was offered their mobile insurance plan.

The first five months I was charged from Targetmobile. Without notice, it went over to RadioShack and now I have the RadioShack equipment protection plan. My phone dropped and is not able to take any phone calls. I went to Target who referred me to call RadioShack corporate.

RadioShack corporate tells me that accidental damage is covered, as stated on my original brochure. However, they also tell me that it takes 7-10 business days for them to receive my non working phone. Then they will repair it and if it is not repairable, they will send a refurbished phone. This whole process will take 2 weeks.

Using the phone for business purposes, I cannot afford to be phone less for 2 weeks.

Radioshack's service and equipment protection plan is very comparable to tmobile and Verizon's Asurion insurance. I will not be making future phone purchases at target or RadioShack.

The reason that the change happened is probably because in early 2013 targetmobile ended its agreement with radioshack and began working with another subcompany.

That being said, I called and tried to file a claim for a broken power button and learned I'd have to pay a 100 dollar deductible. For that money ill just use one of my alternate upgrades and get a better phone.

You dealt with a franchise store, independently owned from a corperate Radio Shack. Different policies.

You also do realize that there is a 30 day replacement, so by you demanding your money back is a waste of yours and the company's time. The replacement, since you paid a full version, this only covers battery replacement. Since it was a spill, this is user error. They do not cover water damage.

Radio Shack Corperate however, does offer a replacement plan for abour 10 dollars a month that will cover all the above (but this is only at time of purchase). Should have gone to corparate rather than a target... would you buy your phone at wal-mart?

Didn't think so. :eek

Nooooo, they don't!!!! oh yes they offer the insurance for $9.99 per month, I purchased it from the smiling employee who told me "if any thing at all happens, you can go outside and purposely run the thing over and we will hand you a new phone." We'll after paying the $9.99 for 18 months, I have a phone with a broken screen, they will send me a box, I have to pay a deductible, and pay for the repair and they will fix the phone...

???

What the ***, so I've paid $180.00 and they will supply me with a box and perhaps pay shipping. ALL RADIO SHACK INSURANCE IS A SCAM!!!
